Default Help! ECU

Hello guys I'm new to this so bear with me. I've got a 1993 Trans Am and the ECU went bad. Wasn't registering anything to the OBD1 scanner. After sending out the ECU to get checked, apparently it had a memory issue. So I long story short I ordered a new one. My question is when I get the new ECU how do I properly install it? Can I just unplug the old one and simply plug in the new one and everything be good? I know VATs might have something to do with it. Thank you guys.

You might have to swap the EEPROM from your old ECM to the new one which is as easy as popping the two screws on the cover and replacing it.

Question though, what scanner were you trying to use?
