Default New Tires for Street

I am looking at the BF Goodrich Sport Comp 2's in the 245 50 16 stock size for street driving and the occasional drag strip run. Can I go with a 255 size on the stock rims safely? Or are there any arguments that the stock 245's are better? Thanks.

I ran 255 sumikomos for a bit, compared to the 245s it was a little more washy around turns, being that the sidewalls are not vertical anymore since they are fatter, but it wasn't bad, and straight line traction was better due to the bigger footprint.

255s look just a little better on the stock 16's, that's what I would do. My opinion though, don't expect street tires to do you any favor at the track. Keep a set of drag radials or slicks around for that purpose.

So 255/50/16 is good for the stock salad shooters? I was also looking at the BF Goodrich G-force sports also?

Yes, there's more enough rim there for that size.

I've had good luck with the G-Sports.

I've got Comp 2's all around (17" rim though) and they're decent for handling and mild street driving. They suck for off-the-line traction if you put any decent power to them. I can make them spin all the way through second.
