Default Solid roller 383 LT1 dyno **7/19 Update**

Been a couple years since this car was running. The last motor had issues from poor machining, big leak down numbers, and out of round crank journals. Had 40 passes/2000 miles on it before pulling the motor. Decided to go more radical with the motor, and run a Holley EFI setup. Everything is finally coming together..

Early April the motor came off the engine dyno. It made 632 HP at 7100. A 850 carb was used for break in, and the pulls made without tuning just to get a ballpark for my converter.

I have been working every spare minute Ive had getting the car back together, everything plumbed and wired in, and the bugs worked out since April. It finally hit the rollers yesterday for tuning. It made 477 rwhp @ 7000 rpm on a very stingy Mustang dyno through a 4L60e, 5800 8" converter, and S60 rear with 430 gears. AFR was rich at 12:1, more tuning to come..

This pull was to 7500 RPM and it still isnt dropping off.

Next stop is the track

**UPDATE 7-11**

The track has been closed this year due to rain more than it has been open. Ive been there twice, and both times had issues with the tune. I was having sensor issues causing a lean spike at the launch. I got that figured out and all is smooth.. I made a shakedown pass leaving at half throttle and getting on the brakes at the 1000 ft. It went 11.6@110.

Second pass I gave it hell..It spun a bit and the front end bounced to the 100 ft or so, no camera man tonight.. so the suspension tweaks will have to wait for the next time out. I am just happy it finally made a full pass!

**What felt like spinning actually appears to be a early shift into 2nd gear at 10 MPH..

**UPDATE 7-19**

Went back out on Friday night.. first pass off the trailer it went 10.24@132 on a 1.41 60 ft

A couple passes later it went even quicker. This car is really surprising me!

Killer combo, can't wait to see what it runs.

477 through a drag race drivetrain w/ unlocked stall and big rear end on a heart breaker mustang dyno is no joke.

I'll let him tell the specifics, but I know its a 26x solid roller with surprisingly small 215 LE TFS heads and a Victor intake .

Thanks! That particular dyno gets rpm from wheel speed, so the graph reads about 500 rpm lower at peak because of the tire growth and big converter. A tach pickup based rpm signal would have shown higher numbers.

That motor was a picky bitch to tune, but Tim did a excellent job. Running open loop for now.

I'm sure this new combo will get you in the low 10's, maybe into the 9's all muscle, depending how the car is set up. What trans are you running? Gear? Stall?

The goal this year is bottom 10s.. it went 10.8s 10.9s consistently in 2013 with around 80 less horsepower, and a SS4000 stall that was 900 RPMs to tight. Sixty in the 1.49 to 1.51 range.

The car is pretty light, need to scale it. It is atleast 100 lbs lighter than 2 years ago, maybe more. I am gonna guess 3300 raceweight. 5800 rpm stall, 4l60e, 430 gear; 28" tire.

Nice numbers man... you'll love the 8 inch converter. My car picked up a lot of et going from a 10" 3800 to an 8" 5200.

Very interested in how it pans out for you. ...

Maf or speed density ?

I hear you on tuning. Even though I'm going 24x, I will still be speed density so will need to find a damn good tuner to get it done.

We need to get our cars together once dialed in, seriously.

I think they will be dead nuts even!

Thanks man! Speed density, open loop for now. Holley ECU was throwing a ton of fuel at it that it didn't need in learning mode.

Thanks man, Not really streetable at the moment. I would need another radiator fan ( currently running one 12" pusher), exhaust setup (running 12" collector extensions), and a E85 tune. Street/strip car was the original plan, but I said the hell with it I have a trailer to pull it in.

We made around 15 pulls on Saturday, and the employees at Dollar General did ask what we were doing over there They dont get a lot of open header cars on their dyno, so it is rare that it is so loud.
