Default Todays Market Value of 2OTL Exhaust

I have been searching for the better part of a year now for a 2OTL system with just barely missing a few on ebay and passing on a few because they were welded which I was not a fan of.

I would offer that I have read quite a few posts over the years on people inquiring as well as selling this system. Of which it seemed like back towards 2007-2012 these systems could be had for cheap (many people of which stated they bought a set for $50 - $150)

I have seen probably (10) sets in the last 1.5 years off which I have not seen a price under $250 most being in the $350-400 and that is usually with a hacked up OTA Pipe and no I-Pipe and does not include shipping.

I guess my question at that point is have the value of these systems jumped that significantly or should I hold out in hopes of finding one who someone has priced closer to the under $200 price range.

Who in their right mind would get rid of it on an SS car. That makes me sad. Even back when it was fairly new it was the best sounding exhaust on the market. Still is IMO. As time goes on the price will increase significantly I'm sure.

Agreed...unfortunately my car being a "salvage" car seemed to have been stripped over before I was able to purchase it and save it from misery (luckily it was only the shifter ****/2otl/spoiler that was removed).

That being said I am doing my best to restore it to original condition.

I basically made this post in that doing some research I saw a lot of exhaust systems had been bought between 2007-2013 for a lot cheaper than what I see them going for these days. I didn't know if that was an indication that the ones I am seeing are guys just overpricing and I should wait until a good deal comes up.

I am in line of purchasing one for $500 ($160 of which is shipping) that includes the I-Pipe/OTA/Muffler/Tips being pulled of a totaled 96SS. With this I am also getting a spare set of SS Floor Mats, All SS Emblems, and the Rad Support Cover with the SLP Sticker (as mine was missing).

At first I thought I was getting a pretty good deal but now I am questioning if I am not paying a lot for a bunch of used parts.

I would jump on that deal for $500. The original SS badges are going for $75 each on ebay. When I was looking for a 2OTL for my 97 ss back in 2008 they where going for $250-$350 plus shipping. Are the floor mats the "Z28SS" ones?

When I pulled my car out of storage in approximately 2006, I almost bought a brand new 2OTL that was listed on EBay. I want to say the price was $750-$800. I wasn't a big fan of the appearance and decided to go with a GMMG. New 2OTL's are nowhere to be found these days.

That's when one should question whether or not it is a real SS.

Just looking through the SLP registry, I bet 25% of the cars on there have had the exhaust switched. Almost all of the the ones I see going up on ebay have had the 2OTL removed.
Gotta have them flowmasters and dual 3" farm truck tips or it aint real american muscle

97's came with the 3 color tails, definitely the wrong spoiler though.

The SS Emblems on that car though......LOL......they look like they were drawn on with a very skilled hand and a sharpy.

The mats are about impossible to find and even when you do they are on a used car so there beat. Not sure if they can be refurbished or not but I will have (2) sets now.

I am assuming they didn't sell very many from SLP aftermarket because I never see any available. Wonder if you called if the people (not sure if it is still SLP) that make the later version that say "Camaro SS" and ask if they could make a custom set?

Yes the mats are the Z28SS ones. If you are still looking PM me since you have been so helpful thus far.

Oh, yeah. I forgot the later 97's got the dual/dual. Still a very nice stainless exhaust, much better that the aluminized crap it usually gets replaced with.

You got a good deal..........I have a good condition 2OTL and found a steal two years ago for $250 shipped. I probably wouldn't part with it for less than $400 now.

I'm always torn with planning work on this car. How much do I want to keep, since it's an all original SS... and how much do I want to customize. Motor's out right now and I'm planning the rebuild... I'd like to to the long tubes, etc, but I don't want to hurt the potential long-term value. The exhaust is in fantastic shape for the mileage.

I don't know if I've ever actually seen an SS with 2OTL in real life...

I feel the same way. Part of me wants to leave it completely stock, the other part wants to go faster . Unfortunately my car has afactory replacement motor in it, so it isn't "numbers matching". I will probably end up doing long tubes and the LE2 heads/cam. Maybe some strano springs and sway bars too.

Mine is a "numbers matching" but is a "R-Title" so unfortunately I feel that will limit its potential its whole life. Thus why my plans are as well LE2 Heads/Cam and .030" bore when the motor goes (if it does). Reality is things like LT/Heads/Cam you can save the parts which were removed an return to stock if the car ever does become "valuable" which is still highly questionable.
