Default Steam tube

I was wondering where others have run there steam tube that comes from the back of the heads to. I know some are running a radiator with an extra nipple to run it to unfortunately I'm not one who has that luxury, I know some have had it added to an aftermarket aluminum rad but I don't have that option either as mine is copper. Is there an after market overflow/recovery tank that has an extra nipple possibly for such?

Need more information on your setup. What car and are you running heater hoses? You can't really run it into a recovery tank. It needs to run into something flowing back into the radiator.

The return line is under the same pressure as the rest of the cooling system.

It's been ages (and mine is an odd ball 93) but I'm pretty sure on mine it doesn't run direct to anything on the rad, but joins one of the radiator hoses at a plastic Y fitting (normally going through the TB first). Two sides of the Y are the fat rad hose diameter and the third is just a tiny barb. I can't imagine that factory Y piece being too much money and you can easily just cut a hose and install it with what you have. Apparently some have also tapped a 90* barb into their waterpump, but that seems way overkill to me unless its a show car that you want as much stuff hidden as possible.

I would keep the system working as close to factory as possible. For the head side, I know I made a super cheap setup ages ago using heater hose from Autozone that was like a buck somethin per foot, and some fittings from Lowes and a small amount of teflon paste.

Ugly as hell, but its hidden in the back and works fine so who cares???

The b-bodies used a pressurized "surge tank" that is a circulating part of the system and no cap on the radiator.

I used a heater hose t that had a 1/4" nipple and ran it to the return hose from the heater core. this is modled after an F body as some of the factory cars has it returning to the heater hose.

I have no fill cap on my radiator. I used an inline fill cap that has an extra nipple in the bottom mounted in the return hose.

It's a b-body engine installed in a g-body, so I have the standard 5/8" and 3/4" heater hoses I was going to do away with OEM over flow tank anyway so was thinking maybe one of the recirculating style after market units may work

The T into the heater hose would be the cheapest and easiest route. it works great on MY S10 blazer LT1.

This "T" can it be gotten from the parts store or is it a junkyard find?

You could have drilled the thermostat housing out for a barb fitting.

You really want the flow to be going back into the radiator. The thermostat housing is taking flow from the radiator into the engine.
