Replacing my aging LT1 stock pump with a racetronix. In the pic attached, the line with a 90 on it is the vent line within the sender. Why doesn't it connect directly to the pipe going out the top for vent? There is actually a plate over that pipe (with a 1" gap) that even prevents me from attaching it.

Is it because it naturally vents out the line due to pressure?
