Default crankcase breather for 1996 impala SS

any one has experience with crankcase breather for 1996 impala SS? will it leak oil from the breather filter? and is the crankcase breather better performing than the factory crankcase ventilation hose?

where can I get a crankcase breather for my 1996 impala SS? and for how much?

also if I installed the breather how to block the TB side ventilation hose fitting? is there a rubber blockage for the TB ventilation fitting?

thanks for help.

My tube ripped and duct tape wasn't holding anymore so I got the $5 breather from advance and a vacuum cap for the TB and it works fine-ish. The PVC sucks air in THROUGH the breather, unless you have an assload of blow by you won't get smoke or oil OUT of the breather.

The downside is now you have unmetered air coming into your motor. The PCV used to pull air from the TB, after it was measured by the MAF, now you are pulling in unmeasured air. It's not a lot, but I am searching for a new tube.

Do You mean by tube the crankcase ventilation hose?

www.tonkinonlineparts.com has GM ventilation hose for my car.

The normal PCV system is better than just a breather (as long as your engine is in good condition and you aren't sucking oil into the TB).

I bought it at my local Chevy dealer but I also get parts from GMPartsEast.com and like them a lot. Enter your VIN on their website and all the parts that come up will be correct for your Impala SS.

Sweet. Kind of on the same topic, would they have factory coolant hoses? Mine are getting a little soft.

Default Added info on converting'94 to '95-on heater manifold

Do you mean the heater manifold/hose Assy? I replaced mine, can't remember if I bought it from gmpartseast or eBay. Gates makes all the coolant hoses needed and shbox has instructions on cutting the crimps off the hard lines (which are beaded) to replace only the hoses if you want to go that route.

Buffmat, if you're replacing the heater hose manifold assy on your '94 and have done the TB bypass then get the heater hose assy and DS radiator hose for a '95. This eliminates the tee in the rad hose, bypass hose and tee in the heater pipe hard line. Cleans things up.
