Default Anybody run these alternators?

I'm on my 3rd Autozone remanufactured alternator and I'm done with it. This latest one stops charging when I coast to a stop then picks back up again once at a full stop or if I rev the engine. I'm looking at either a Powermaster or Power Bastards alternator. Anyone have first hand experience with either of them?

http://www.mralternator.com/alternators/fbody.html

I run one of his 200amp units. No issues yet and I overdrive it to boot.

Thanks for the info. That's almost $100 cheaper than the others. I gotta say though, the website doesn't exactly instill confidence. I'd be surprised if artasgraphics.com still gets any business after designing that disaster. What made you go with mralternator?

BLS, the F1a black TA car, picked one up and worked for him so when I needed one I did the same.

Mine sits on top of a hot exhaust crossover and still works, can't complain.

I run a 200A Mr. Alternator unit. Seems to work just fine with all the nonsense I have going on in my car.

Bringing this back.....

Mine took a dump and I'm supercharged with all the extra draw that comes with it.
Are theses simple plug and play? What volts are you guys cruising around at with the 200amp unit? Does heat make a difference. My stocker would struggle when hot. How fast to ship?

Volts are above 13 while running and believe mine came within a week. Call them. Heat doesn't seem to bother it at all.

Heat will def shorten the life of the unit, but in this case the correlation to heat and voltage drop is prob cause your fans come on and the load is too much.

My alternator is still kicking, no issues with hot idle with a crap ton of pumps/fans on.

I ordered and installed the 200 amp from Mr. Alternator. I asked the guy if the stock belt would fit. He said yes. It doesn't. It seems to have a smaller pulley.
What length belt are you guys using? I have a K60642 best now so 64.2 inches. I'll see what I can find that is a little shorter.

So a Dayco 060635 fits both stock and Mr. Alternator with the smaller pulley for anyone searching in the future.

I install and the car will not idle at all, won't rev and seems to be flooding the cylinders. IAC is wide open, MAF higher the normal and IPW and IDC higher. Volts are all over the place from 12 to 14. Charge battery and same thing. Put on old dead alternator and fires up and idles fine but showing low volts at 11.5V with battery at 12.2V. Looks like I got a DOA alternator. I called them 3 times with no answer but SC is going through some sit right now.

Got an AC Delco off Amazon. It's blinged out with a gold middle section and gold pulley. Made in Mexico. Imagine that...

Were you able to get the problem resolved? I'm in the market for a new alternator and live in SC so I'd like to buy from someone local if possible.

ended up getting AC Delco

Tried contacting Mr. Alternator via email and phone but never got a response. Looks like that may have been a blessing in disguise based off Poncho's story.

I also went with a AC Delco (rockauto.com). Like SSR says made in Mexico. Same as Delphi. Both have gold painted stator

If you can find a good local rebuilder...likely less $. Parts are all over the net but you need a press for the bearings

They did get back to me a week and a half later. That region of the US was going through a hurricane at the time and they were helping out on the coast so they get a total pass.

Still same problem. I don't think it is alternator related but I put the car away in Nov. and will tackle it in the spring. I still have no idea why an alternator would cause a car to not idle worth a **** nor have I read about someone else dealing with this.
