I'll be interested to hear more of your experience. I'll be going through a whole motor rebuild so I'm starting from scratch. Spare motor I picked up has a 96/97 timing cover

I wouldn't expect a big bump in HP...this is mostly done for better reliability from the ignition system, spin higher rpms (IF you motor is built to do so) and better tuning ability of the OBD2 411 pcm.

Yep.....one-stop shopping at a great price.

Saw an article a while back where a stroked LT1/4 saw about 10HP (at the wheels) increase throughout the RPM range. So not a big power builder given the price.

As stated, increased tunability and RPM range are the main benefits.

Converting to the 24X was the ONLY change?? Meaning they didn't go from a mech WP to EWP also?? Or stock LT1 intake to LT4 intake also??

Just wanted to share not to expect big gains from this while spending $1600 for 10hp...$1600 for me would be a full coil-over conversion

1. The swap I saw was the 24x install only.

2. EWP was already on the car....IIRC.

3. A LT4 intake swap yields ZERO gains over a LT1 intake. A LT4 intake should only be used if you're also going with LT4 heads.

4. I have a high-compression 398ci solid roller setup in my '96 Impala. I need to be able to rev over 7K RPMs. The full 24x conversion is sorely needed on my car!

I'm still torn between the EFI or TH setup...Maybe by the time I'm ready to buy parts (after my motor is rebuilt) there will be more personal reviews/opinions of it.

I suppose you can get the TH setup, but still buy the 411 PCM, connectors for the PCM and then repin/rewire the LT1 harness.

What are my options for a '92 that uses the original Opti and chip that needs to be removed and "burned" for re-programming?

I pulled the trigger today......popped for the $100 group purchase deposit for the TorqHead Kit.

Will most likely have it by the end of January and installed buy the end of February.

I bought one as well but about a month ago...havent put it in yet but looks awesome, extremely professional looking setup.

KW who is tuning the new computer for you? I haven't decided who to send the computer to for a base tune.

Regarding the tuning, how does that work? What do you tell the tuner? "I've got an LT1 with XYZ mods and an auto trans running 24x and an LS PCM"? Seems like that would take a completely different tune built from the ground up, but I know exactly nothing about tuning, so I could be totally off.

Tune it with HP tuners or EFI Live like you would any thing else. We tune mine with HP tuners.

Corey Henderson @ Henderson Performance in New Braunfels.

He'll tune it first on the dyno.....and then on the street.

PM me if you want/need more info.......

The company (TorqHead) loads a base tune for the conversion. You tell your tuner you have a 24x conversion on your LT1 and the mods that you have.

If the tuner doesn't know what to do, he ain't worth a crap and you should move on......

Best of luck!

Default Sequential Injection

My fitment of the Redline ECU-882C "sequential" EMS ALWAYS shows a 25 HP increase on a 500 HP bench dyno test OVER the Bank/Bank fire of the early GM EMS.
The SAME reports are shared with equal results when other brands of sequential injection engine management is fitted to an engine.
One such is an upgrade from MEFI-IV to a MEFI-V ECU showing the same results.

Wait!? I wouldn't even have to re-harness the entire engine!?

Nope. Plug and play with your existing LT harness

Keep in mind, the company permenantly modifies a 411 pcm so you don't have to rewire the whole car harness. The potential downside is that IF something happens to the custom modified PCM, TH is the ONLY place you can go back to for issues.

I'd rather rewire the car and use a run of the mill 411 PCM.

this looks like a very nice solution. he must be 3d printing those pcm covers. Awesome ingenuity! I think it's worth it personally having gone the rewire efi connection 24x route.

my guess is internally he has repinned the female to the ltx pins and that's why you can use your ltx harness. he is not doing anything inside the pcm.

If he ever goes out of business, you can repin a standard 411pcm. not the end of the world.
