Default Difference between a 93 and 96 car with the lt1

So I've discovered that my current car a 96 camaro has more rust than I thought it did so I've decided to get rid of it and get something solid be less of a headache and mice look like they have been having a lot of fun they ATE my factory subwoofer despite me putting two boxes worth of moth ***** in there no telling what else they ate so I think I'm going to get a diffrent car there is a 93 firebird at a dealer 10 minutes from my house they only want 3k for it and it's been recently repainted what are the differences between the 93 and 96 and is the tunability the same and I have a new transmission it's an auto any differences there I just want to make sure I'm not going to run in to any big problems if I go with this 93 since all the stuff I bought was for a 96 thanks

Biggest difference is the '93 is "speed density" so there will be no Mass Air Flow sensor, the tuning is different....a '93 uses an old fashioned "chip" for tuning. I think the term is a '93 has an "ECM" and 94+ is a "PCM".

Also the transmission is a 4L60 not a 4L60E.

1996 is also OBDII. 1993 is OBDI.

1993 is also a batch fire injection car and has the splined Opti versus the pinned Opti.

94-95 is obd1 and tuning software is free. The 95 has the added benefit of a vented opti. The 96-97 will have the benefit of being easier to convert to 24X though if you choose that route.

Don't be afraid to go 2+ hours outside your craigslist circle, heck even if you have to trailer it back it might be $500. Worth it to have what you want.

You don't need a 96-97 car to do a 24x conversion.
