I bought my 82k miles 1994 Trans am GT with a blown head gasket for 2,000. Super clean with an almost mint interior. In my area a nice fbody can be had for pretty cheap. Idk if that helps at all, goodluck!

Check ebay...people with lower mile cars really want premium these days $7-8K +..."good" shape is subjective but $5,000 would be plenty...It is hard to find those right now...everything is either beat and hacked to hell or super low mile car.
Another idea since you a putting a motor in it is a V6 car...i saw a extremely clean 93-97 V6 on ebay the other day...but you probably don't want to deal with all the drive train, suspension, gauge cluster changes.

Ebay is always inflated though. High fees for sellers so there's less selection. Just look up the 90s B-bodies, those idiots want dealer money. You can scoop up a M6 f-body with decent miles and paint on Craigslist for around $4.5-5k if you wait around long enough. Autos are at least a grand less. Unfortunately, these cars are becoming like the 3rd gens where most have had 7 owners and are completely beat or were owned my old guys and always pampered. There isn't much middle ground between the trailer park kings and wannabe collector cars.

Some of the People that own Fbodys are ridiculous. Same in my area, people will ask 9k for a LT1 car... I paid 1600$ for my Hardtop, 6 speed Camaro. Which was still a little high considering the 1800-1900$ I spent on it to fix it. Not to mention the COUNTLESS hours of work I have wrapped up in it... Also not to mention all the head/heart aches of thinking it was broken just to find out some stupid **** the PO had done that didn't make any sense....

I don't get on drama book any ways one of the worst things on the internet a few buddies showed me some stuff for sale on there I was not all that impresed. I'm not trying to be a cheap a$$ but I'll be Damned if I will spend the same kind of money on an LT car that would but me a decent LS car

I paid 1800 for a 97 LT1 1LE last month. Perfectly stock, no issues, one owner. 200K miles. No burning oil, drives strong.
Swapping a 408 into it. (Motor is ready to go, just collecting all the other parts )
For now, upgrading brakes and suspension and enjoying the LT1. Still pulls hard.

Sometimes you need to be patient. I looked for over two years before I found the right condition Z28 at the right price for myself. Granted, it may be harder now as the cars are much more few in numbers.

I recently bought my 96z t56 car 130k miles, needs paint and the seats need to be fixed, paid about $1200, I figured the transmission was worth that, to me anyway!
good luck!

Being in the middle of summer doesn't help things, but people are stupid with their prices all over. There is one guy near me with a 93 Firebird Formula that has been listed for months. He wanted $4500 for it. It hasn't moved. What does he do? Buys some ZR-1 replicas, throws them on, and bumps the price to $5000.
If you want a real good laugh, look at the G-Body prices.

i picked up my car about 6 months ago. 95z, 120k miles all stock. super clean inside and out. $4500. I put the wheels on after i got it. it seemed like 5k would get a nice clean one close to 100k give or take. 8k would be a clean 100k mile ls1. I thought about getting an ls1, but they are so f*n ugly.

You can find clean stock cars with less than 100k miles for 5 grand or less. At least in my area. Takes some looking though. I've seen even seen 96-97 SS cars with miles in the 40-70k range for 6-8k. There are several classifieds pages on facebook for these cars, parts, etc.
But for a clean, stock or stock-ish car that is well cared for, has good paint, tires, wheels, etc. and less than 100k, I'd say $3500-$5500 is about the going rate. The SS and WS6 cars will command a premium, particularly if they have very low miles.

In the facebook group "Lt1 Nation!!" there is a polo green, stock 6 speed 1996 SS, car #500 with 45k miles and looks very clean. Seller is asking $8900 which I think is a good price for what is pretty much one of the most valuable/desirable LT cars out there. Located in Maryland.
The deals are out there if you look, and particularly if you're willing to travel.

I've been looking for two weeks for a sub 100k mi or recently rebuilt LT1 under $5k and have yet to see one. Probably going to end up buying my buddies 110k mile 99 Cobra instead since he will let it go cheap and I at least know it has had a full tuneup recently and runs great.
All I see are $2-3k turds that are either broken down or have 180k miles, or decent cars that their owners think are worth $8k cuz "Corvette Motor!!!".

I've had a hell of a time, I thought someone would buy this 94 Z28 I have up for sale at $3k.
It does have a knocking shortblock, however I had a spare block to go with it. Exterior is probably a 7, interior around a 8. Hardtop, all power options, automatic, small stall. Only aftermaket changes are a aftermarket muffler, panhard rod, and drilled/slotted rotors...
Oh and the complete, brand new 24x system, with all of the options....
The 24x system and tune cost pretty much what I want for the car but it is still here...
Guess I'll put that short block in and ask $6k.

I bought my 93 TA LT1 back in May with 126k miles for $1,200. But, someone took a paint roller and some interior house paint and thought it looked good. So, now I get the job of stripping it and re-painting it. If I didn't paint cars, i would've high tailed it out of that guys driveway. Everyone under the sun has had their hands on this car at some point. I guess that's what you get for $1,200!
