Cool new here and got a cheap project 94 z28 :-) want some advice

Well I bought this camaro (sorry for crappy pic, I Will get some good ones tomm hopefully.

Its a 1994 Chevy Camaro Z28 LT1 Automatic 4L60E 148k miles on her, the trans was rebuilt 8k ago.....

Bought her for 300 bux off a frined who needed money and needed the car gone

so I picked her up and shee needs some work to her....I have a list here www.garthman.com/camaro.htm and some other pics.......

So basically looking to spend soem spare change on her to get her bak to normal and then start modding or do modding on the way, needs mostly interior stuff and after I egt that outta the way I wanna do performance upgrades. I'm no squid to engine building. I build high performance motorcycle engines at my shop and can do everything myself plus with a Tax ID # u get parts pretty cheap

So what do you guys suggest for motor work? basically heads cam, headers bak exhaust, the pretty basic stuff is what I Was thinking and then throwin a bottle in there mabey a 100 shot or so....but how much can these bottom ends hold? I look foward to being part of this forum alot more......Lemme know what you guys think and also check out my website www.garthman.com

i personaly like a more subtle look...

for starters.. i think you should get a CAI, longtubes, 3'' back to a highflow muffler (borla/mggm) , 3200 stall, port and polish intake mani, port and polish throttle body, compatible heads/cam, and and a 125 shot of giggle gas, 17x9.5+ wheels , drag radials, 160degree tstat, ... ah the list goes on... but that's the order you should go about to get a REALLY quick street car.

yeah, thats kinda a ball park of what I want to do but mabey forced induction....I know I will atleast get a full exhaust system for starters, then probably replace the ignition....and go on from there and decide on what to do I guess...... thanx

With that kinda mileage, I would rebuilt the whole things. A good 355 won't be too expensive and you'll have some piece of mind about what you have under there. Then you can up your 125 shot with forged pistons and such. If FI is a route, then you'll be able to run more boost, tailor your CR for your application.

My opinion I would do VALVE SPRINGS, PUSHRODS, TIMING CHAIN, FUEL PUMP/WIRING/INJECTORS FIRST!!!!!!!!

First Round Mods
CAI
March Pulleys
Adj Fuel Pressure Regulator
Throttle body bypass mod
Air foil
Trans Cooler

Round 2
Hooker Long tubes and 2.5" Duals
NGK TR55 plugs/MSD Wires/OPTI

Round 3
3.73 and 2,800-3,200

Round 4
KYB AGX Shocks
BMR Springs (or who ever)
Spohn Sway Bars
Strut Brace
Spohn or BMR Lower Control arms
Sub frame connectors
LS1 front brakes

You'll have an all around fast and reliable car.

cool, thanx for the opinions guys.....I was thinkin a 383 instead of a 355 but either way I will have to wait off for a lil bit on doign the serious modding anyways. I jsut put a down on a turbo busa at work :-) 348hp at 18 lbs boost lol......anyways Im sur eI will be around here more often........

I was gunna ask some quiestions but I forgot them......I think one was whats up with the opti-spark system, somone said those give problems? I know sinc eI will be toolin on the car in a bit I will think of the other one I'll let you guys know.

Thanx alot......I have been reading the forums for about 3 hours now lol.......gettin a pretty good education about these cars......

Im thinking 383 with heads cam and all the lil goodies....timing chain, pushrods, rockers and such......I wanna keep compression under 10:1 and with the set up Im thinkin about goin I believe I will be runnign 9.5:1 which will be ok for some forced induction or nitrous....

Looking for tuning things though, havent seen much for tuning.....

Thanx!

That is a great deal.

I would just clean it up, fix what little is wrong with it, and drive it, maybe do a couple bolt ons.
It would be hard for me to sink a lot of $ into a car in that condition with the age and mileage that one has.

yeha I def have some time.....this is gunna be a project car....I ride motorcycles mostly so I have good cheap transportation which allows me ot save all my money and dump it in this heheheh......Im thinking 427ci motor though now.....and definatly want this hood with a wings west body kit....

I think it will look good all together and I wont have to touch the spoiler....

Definatly gunna have a bangin stereo system though I can tell ya that...my uncle has his own audio shop/business

as for it being old and all...I dont care that much because I have pretty much hook ups for every part of the car from ARP to Eagle and interior stuff to....plus a row of custom metal fabricators.....oh and I have a tax ID number so I get some at dealer cost and such sooo it should be a fun project.....Doubt it will go as fast as my turbo busa though
