break-in 383 and dyno tune
Im building a 383 lt1 right now and putting 30lb injectors in it instead of my 24lb. I can't go on the dyno to get it tuned right away right? i have to wait at least 500 miles. So how can i break it in with the stock tune? could i just leave my 24lb injectors in it till it is broken in, and not have any wot runs. and then put the 30lb's in at the dyno? thanks

I dyno tuned my new 383. I didn't have any miles on it. It was fine. I had 30# injectors in it also. I drove it home from the shop and back to the shop with the injectors before the tune. When it started to run a little rich I reved the engine to clear out the fuel while I was driving it. Don't drive it much, just enough to put at least a few miles on it.

I would call a tuner and talk to them about it, i agree to break in the motor nice and easy BUT not on the stock tune. Get a retune with the right computer settings. like the displacment setting and injector rates and all that. just dont dyno tune it. you dont want to wash down brand new cylender wall with fuel while breaking it in.

I got mine built by rev xtreme early this year and they made me break it in before Dyno tuning. use shitty/normal oil at first and change it at 200 miles, use a magnetic plug to see if any shavings come out. I like to break motors in before hammering them!

I just got mine done..
Stock tune, keep it under 5000 rpm
500 miles - change oil
500 miles - change oil
500 miles - change oil -->Go to dyno!
They did put the car up on the dyno right after install to check the low rpm stuff and make sure the car would run good to get me to 1500 miles

Had mine built by Livernois Motorsports 2 summers ago. They ran it on the dyno nice and easy for a couple hours, then dynotuned it. Definitely use NON synthetic for the break in, until everything is seated properly. Then switch to full synthetic and hammer down.

That's crazy! I ran a brand new fourwheeler really hard and thought I was going to have lots of issues but it's been years and that thing still rips like a beast rings are great an all. Never really came to the conclusion or understanding that that is exactly how it should be done but from now on I believe I'll try out motoman's method
