Default LT1 bogging in high RPMS

Ive got a 95 TA with just a CAI and a Flowmaster muffler... The car was bogging down real bad and missing down low and up top in the RPMs... I replaced the coil and the car runs smooth now except for up high in the rpms. At about 5k rpms it dies out and almost feels like it hits a rev limiter or something. Sometimes it doesnt do it but most the time it does.... Maybe needs new plugs and wires? Not sure when the last tune up on the car was done. Maybe fuel filter?
A sevice engine light will occasionally come on but will go back off if I turn off the car and crank it up again.
I also sprayed carb cleaner on the MAF and on the throtle bodys because there was some build up....
So What could it be?

Thanks

If it boggs at high rpms, or dont pull like normal i would say mass air. If it studders at high rpms id say opti. If it sounds like its missing at idle and doesnt pull as hard id say plugs and wires.

also... it seems when the car isnt fully warmed up it runs good. When I took the car out tonight, the first time i got on it, it ran smooth and then after that it started having trouble again.

Default high rpm miss fire

have a computer check at your local parts store some will do it for free. if not the o2 sensors do plugs and wires that may help but it sound like the opti
i had the same problem a few months ago it was the 5th one. i finally got a
after market opti form dynatech called a dynaspark for $615.00 but it was well worth it. they improved 10 different problems the factory unit had, and it was pretty easy to install. check it out at www dynotech-eng/dynaspark.htm good luck

damn...

Will a computer pick up any codes if theres no lights on? The service engine light comes on occasionaly but not all the time.

And if it was opti wouldnt it run shitty all the time? Cause it runs good... just once it hits high rpms it starts acting up

Thanks

Yeah Opti's can do some funny crap, like drop random cylinders and fun things like that. Mine is out and I'm getting it replaced, it runs like crap all over the place, and now it's too the point it won't start. I would get it scanned and see if any codes pop up, if not, do plugs/wires, and try running some fuel injector cleaner through, or change the filter. Before you go ahead and look more into 02 Sensors and the Optispark. 02 Sensors should show something in the scan, is the car puffing any kind of smoke? It also wouldn't hurt to check the Cat... I doubt it's clogged but if it was the cat would be glowing red. It's kind of a crapshoot if no codes show up, and it's a bitch to take the car apart to see if the Opti is bad.

Ya I guess ill have autozone run a check on it tommorow and see if anything comes up... Could there be a chance that the coil i just bought is bad?I wouldnt mind replacing plugs and wires anyways if it wasnt such a pain in the *** to do cause i know it probably needs them anyways...
So heres the possibilities....
Opti
plugs/wires
Fuel Filter
02 Sensors

If it was your coil it should be throwing a code on the computer. There is a slight chance that the coil you bought is bad, but I doubt it. And it's kinda hard to mess up when installing a coil so I doubt that's the problem. And yes, you can pretty much narrow it down to those four things, but it could also be something else, it's hard telling... get the scan and let us know the results .

Well I went to autozone but they didnt pick up any codes... I bought a fuel filter and put it on and it didnt seem to help. I drove it and as sson as I hit 4500 rpms it just felt like it cut out... its not always at 4500rpms but usually around there or 5500rpms

It sounds like the optispark in my opinion. Get an MSD cap, rotor, and wires. It sure beats the factory setup.

could your computer be picking up (false) knock and pulling timing? its a common problem with LT1's with headers or upgraded valvetrain but not as common in more or less stock applications. Just something else to think about.
