If you are going from steel to aluminum (LS1 shaft) then there will be an increase in power to the wheels due to less rotational mass. If you plan on going to the track much with slicks, you're wasting your time. I twisted mine and opted for the Denny's steel shaft. However good option for a DD or a road race car.

With your mods you will be safe for a while. Get much past 300 RWHP and sticky tires and you might twist it. Some people have claimed .2 from the swap.

The throttle response is good. Like I said, until your a little over 300 RWHP and getting traction, you don't have much to worry about for it breaking. Considering you could probably pick up .1 or .2 from it, and the fact that you can usually find them used for around 100 bucks. It's not a bad choice.

Yeah, don't let anything scratch the CF shaft, or it'll broomstick on you.
I put the AL shaft from my '98 M6 car on my '94 A4. Bolted right in. My 94Z currently puts down a whopping 203 rwhp, so I'm in no danger of twisting it right now.

i just put the ls1 shaft on my 94 and it picked up a little initially, not a seat of the pants mod but its good for a few lbs of torque at the wheels, ok for 100 bucks, combine it with a stage 3 clutch and a lightweight aluminum flywheel and some light racing wheels for a real boost
