Is anyone using the LT4 Hotcam alone without buying the whole kit with springs and rocker arms or is it pointless? I am thinking about putting a cam in a stock LT1 car and would love a great cam that has a good idle. Any input is great!

Get the springs and retainers, they are only like $40 extra. I have the Hotcam and springs with the stock rockers.

the full kit is fairly priced, I personally think that if u open something, you might as well change to new parts, but thats only me.

I change everything i touch to new, only to eliminate every single point of failure.

and i dont think you can run the Hot Cam with the stock springs and rockers, but Im not sure, let the experts answer you.

you can run stock rockers but the springs and retainers have to be changed. the best thing to do is to call summit or where ever you plan on getting your parts and ask what springs they reccomend with stock rockers and a HOTCAM

What I did was get everything, because you have to take the rockers out to change the springs. So might as well get the 1.6's with them at that time, and save the trouble of doing it later. Every little bit helps...
