Default VE tables

Do the VE tables calculate pulsewidth in closed loop? I'm starting to believe that they do. Some people say that they are only used when the MAF fails... i tend to disagree
Any debaters?

I've read a bunch on this and the concensus that I got was that no one really knows what they do. Haha. I used a program (forgot what it's called) that "tuned" the tables while in speed density. I borrowed a revised VE table as a base and tuned them but the program only showed minimal changes. I like MAF mode much better, BTW.
