Default how to tell what year?

i bought a LT1 motor to swap into my truck, and was told it was a 95 from an f-body. it does have alum heads but i noticed smothing today. it has alot of the same senors as my 4.3 which uses MAP. i thought 95's were MAF? there anyway to tell the year of the motor by numbers on the block? how do i know if i have map or maf?

maf/map is external to the engine. It can be run on either. Basically whichever it was before is irrelevant for swapping it into another vehicle, if you did not purchase it with all the accessories. If you did, then whether or not a maf sensor was included should answer the question.

Has more to do with the pcm than the engine.

you should have both. the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor should be plugged into the intake manifold while the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor should be before the intake registering how much air is entering the motor. i never knew that lt1's didnt come with a MAP sensor, but i know the 93's didnt have a MAF. They ran on "speed density".

Unless someone swapped the intakes on them, I do believe the pre 94 LTX engines didn't have the fuel crossover up front.

ding ding ding, thats how you tell a 92-93 from a 94+ the fuel cross over is up front rather than in the back like on the earlier 92-93 intakes

1992-3 Intake

1994+

Good pic here

The silver 92-93 doesnt have the fuel corss over up front, the red one does so its either a powder coated 94+ Lt1 or a lT4
