Default What type of things "click" on at idle...

When i'm sitting at a stop light, or I have my car at idle at anytime, I noticed that it will be idling fine, then something will "click" on, pretty loud, and then the cars idle will start to waver. I've had it scanned, and its throwing a code for my egr, and rear o2s. I removed both and have not tuned out the codes yet. My car has started to surge at idle at sometimes, to the point it actually stalls out if I hit the gas just a lil and let it fall down. And i recenetly noticed that my idle gets worse as it "clicks" on. Does the egr make a distinctive "click" as it activates? What else could it be?

a/c will click, and maybe the air pump.
if its stalling your idle air control motor might be shot... or sticking.

never herd the egr click before. but you said you removed both the rear o2 and egr... so if its still clicking its not that.
unless you were talking about removing the codes?

The only things that click normally are the AC compressor, and the EGR valve. I have heard of some IAC motors clicking when they go out.

-Can't be the air pump, i pulled out my air too. I'm actually not sure if its occuring when I have my ac on or not. But if so, wouldn't my ac compressor already be on, because the clicking occurs after the cars been on awhile too, and i'm pretty sure I would have already had my ac on.
-Car doesnt seem to miss at all.
-I removed the egr and rear o2s physically, havn't removed the codes yet tho.
I was thinking it might be the ac compressor, but would that cause my car to surge if it was going out?

if its the ac compressor cant you fix the problem by turning it off? also what exactly does the air pump do?

as long as the switch is still working.

the air pump, pumps air into the exhaust manifolds to help warm the cat up.
it shuts off after the car is warmed up.

The surge only last for a few seconds, maybe 5-10, and then it goes back to normal. I usually put it in Neutral when it happens, so it doesn't pull on the brakes, cuz it surges up to about 12-1300 rpm. I've never tried to turn the ac off in the middle of it surging, but if it lasts long enough, i'll try next time it happens.
