Bumper Supports Question
Do you all think it is safe to remove front and rear bumper supports on a SS that is still driven on the street, and occasionally the track? They were taken out to see how light the car would weigh in. Should they stay off or be put back on for safety reasons while being driven on the street?

Front and rear are gone on my 94 but the car sits in the garage alot. I have no qualms driving it on the street though because I pay attention.
I know some idiot who is not paying attention could ram into me but thats a risk I am willing to take.
Rear I aint so worried about but if you take a good frontal hit the motor could end up in your lap. Of course thats true even if the support is in there its just without it it will be easier.

How much weight is really saved? Really? 40 pounds? Leave them on an be safe. It's not how careful you are or how well your car stops... it's the other guy who is on his cell phone, eating a burger, shifting his car, while he is getting head from his girlfriend that you have to worry about hitting you.

Yup. I am stationed in Arkansas. There is no mandatory defensive driving course here before you get your license. And the way the roads are, it's nuts. There was a guy that designed an intersection here, and he got killed in it. I am from NY, and we had a bunch of them. Then again, everyone has heard about NY drivers.... lol

I took both front and rear of mine out and drove it everyday for 4 years like that. After taking them out, you'll see that they are going to do very little in a real accident. For parking lot bump ups, or the occasional basket ball goal in the driveway crash the milk crate looking supports will work well.
I think I could go put my work boots on and stomp one into pieces, though.

Don,t let anyone push or god forbid sit on the bumper covers.
