Default Pacesetter LT install aftermath

So I installed my pacesetter LTs and non-catted Y-pipe. A magnaflow with 22" long, 4" round 45 degree slashcuts rounds out my exhaust.

First off, the install wasn't that bad. I didn't have any clearance problems (besides jacking up the motor about 3/4" on the passenger's side to install). Steering shaft fit great, no clearance problems. I think the install was 10-12 hours total on a rack with air tools.

So.. how does it sound? It sounds great. Incredibly aggressive compared to the stock exhaust with just the muffler. It's loud and evil.

The car revs out sooo much faster and easier. It's just alot easier for it to BREATHE! I matted the pedal at about 2000rpm in first, and it spun the tires till I topped out first and had to shift The best it would do before was chirp when I matted it at about 3000.

As expected the powerband moved up in the rpm range (since the tuned length of the exhaust changed) and it "feels" like it has less low end. When it hits upper RPMs it just puuuulllllssssss like it never did before.

Ground clearance isn't bad at all. I lost maybe 1 1/2".

Overall, awesome. If you're considering LTs, get them. "Go long, or go home."

Hey man, I just did the LTs my self, I prety much agree with every thing you just posted. Getting my manifolds out and LTs in wasnt a big deal, every thing else after that just ate so much time. Its worth i, cars a lot meaner now, how ever I think most shops charge about 300$ for the install and after doing this I would have to say its worth that

For $300 yeah it would be worth it. Around here shops charge $700-$800

It wasn't hard, just time consuming!

I love them though. I had the pacesetter Y-pipe modified so that it's flanged on the headers and on the S pipe so that I can remove it and put turn downs on the ends of the headers

I think you might regret shorties. Kind of pointmess, not much better than the stock manifolds. Might be better to save up and just buy the LT's instead of wasting the money on the shorties first...just a suggestion.

It costs more money to go shorties then LTs then just wait and do the LTs, you can get them with smog fittings now and it isnt hard to build the Y to pass smog, look at the FLP set up for that.

Damn you all !!! I cannot wait til my car is done. I am going to have the LT's sent off and coated. LT1 headers are not to bad really, well hard compared to LS1 standards. Luckily all my emission stuff is gone with the wind.

if you havent already started...STOP, sell the shorties, and save up for the LTs, from experience, installing shorties is a waste of time/money

Summit racing. The uncoated ones are 285 for the headers, and 130 for the y-pipe.

I was deciding if I should do shorties... but it wouldn't have been worth the trouble I went through to install these damn things. The car pulls so much nicer and smoother now it was worth the effort.
