Default QA1 setup

You guys running the QA1 shocks all around what settings to you have them at (front and rear)? If you have the extreme duty torque arm what pinion angle do you have it at? I ran my car last night and I could'nt hook up for **** (yes I have E.T Streets and doing good burn out)

I had the front shocks @ 4
The Right rear was @ 3
the Left rear was @ 2


then I tried

3 in the front
the right rear was @ 2
left rear was @ 1

Pinion angle I have at -2

I just have stock shocks but is your car lowered?

hey dhdenney how is that cam working on your car. I want to upgrade mine. Well I need something with a bit more lift

Thought maybe your control arm angle might mess up your traction. I'm guessing you have M6? Anyway, about the cam, I like the cam as far as seat of the pants and sound goes. Tried dynoing a couple times with a failing optispark so I didn't get anything good. I was as a matter of fact looking at the dyno charts today from Thunder Racing last summer and judging by the curve, it looks like I might have hit 440 if it peaked at 6800. I have since swapped to A4 and Denny's NR shaft so I will lose some. I would hope to say I could dyno 425 at best. Tried running the 1/4 last fall only to break my transmission tailshaft housing so I never got a good pass for a time. Hope to try the 1/8 in the next couple months. I haven't been able to spray this cam so I can't say much there either. One thing I wish I had done was get this on a 110 lsa for a little more peak power and some more nastiness. Your duration isn't too low or anything so have you thought about trying a higher rocker ratio?

I have the relocation brackets for my LCA. I have the pro mags 1.6 already. I really don't want to go with 1.7 ($$$)

with singal adjustables I had the best luck with 3-4 on the rear and 1 or 2 on the nose depending on traction. The shocks were actually desighed for stripped cars so us guys with full wieght have problems with the nose dropping to fast.

I fixed this by going to the DA QA1s on the front. I run 6 on the compression and 1 on the rebound. This lets the nose come up fast but not come completely back down until just after the 60ft or so. It made a huge difference on consistancy and traction.

I am planning on adding a Trans Brake and new ignition system next. We will see how a two step- trans brake- N2O launch will hold next

try stiffening the rears....you do NOT want the car to squat in the rear....you want to lift the nose to transfer weight...the rear should look as if it is trying to lift also, as that will push the tires into the ground

What kinda springs? Maybe your HALs are working against your springs? Just shooting in the dark here...

I have the HAL's 300 LBS rated in the front and I have the spings from a 6 cyl firebird in the back.

I used to hook up with my old LT1 witn no problems

I also ran Hal springs. Now I am running stock LS1 springs front and rear.

I also tried stiffer rear settings to no avile back then. have not been back to the track enogu this year to get more testing on the DAs

I have Qa1's and run the frontsa at 1 and backs at 3. You want the car to rock back quite a bit. I have 17" et streets in back, and stock WS6 rims/tires up front. I have Global West's Trac Link torque arm. I am not sure at the exact pinion angle, but when I do a burn out, the back of the car lifts up, meaning the fender gap grows as I start my burn out. I pull 1.6's with this setup, which is very similar to yours.
Ride height is stock, rear tire pressure is 19psi, fronts are 40psi. Car weighs 3400 even, with me in it. Hope this helps.

Thanks man. I'll try it. Though I broke the driveshaft (LS1), yolk and u-joint on one of those runs trying to hook up

I need to check the pinion angle on mine, not sure what its at with the new torque arm, also a Track Link set up. I run the single adjustable on all four, drag springs up front with no sway bar. My car is heavy as hell, but at the track I find 1 works the best up front with 3 in the back. Any thing more than 3 in the back the car gets to bouncy in the back. On the street I set the fronts at 7 and leave the backs alone. With my heavy *** car on the street if I hit a corner to hard it will body roll and compress the shock on what ever side its putting weight down on prety hard. They work well, I just wnat to see what they'll do on a tire

I was thinking about this. Last time I had the teal shop car at the track we had the wheels off the ground with a stock TQ arm and 1 setting in the front and 3-4 in the rear on 17in ET Street Radials

Seems to be working on that car!

We always run the rear as tight as we can if the track is there and the fronts as loose as they go. If the track is a little less prepped the rear shocks might need to be looser.

I am still running stock shocks/springs and think it is doing pretty well....BUT we race at REALLY well prepared tracks.
