The search button is your friend, search for LS1 and then LT1 and i think there is even a sticky, other than the motor and the seats and the tail lights and the bumper cover, hood, and fenders up front they are the same car, plus a few more small differences between those years, it was a major shift from the LT1 to the LS1 and you better do a search on that

Youll get more bickering in these type of threads than info. Usually the acts will be stated on the first page then the rest will be arguing. If you do a search you can save yourself the hassle.

LS1s have 15 degree valve angles, 1.7 ratio rockers, 346 cubes, a more agressive cam, different exhaust/intake port patterns, coil per cylinder ignition, plastic intake manifold, single throttlebody, all aluminum among other things.

LT1s have 23 degree valve angles, 1.5 ratio rockers, 350 cubes, a less agressive camshaft, a distributor, twin butterfuly throttle body, iron block, aluminum heads.

LS1s are faster stock, but once the modding starts, someone I forget who said but they put it best it was something like, whoevers smarter with there cash will end up faster.

Easier to list what's the same with the engines. That would be the bore spacing @ 4.400 inches. Even the trannies have a different bell housing bolt pattern IIRC.

According to this, 15 degrees...

Oh yea, another difference is the firing order. Makes it smoother, but for me, makes it sound crappier, I like a lumpy idle damnit.

The heads and Air restriction are the main things.
LT1's dont breathe well, the stock heads/intake/exhaust are pretty restrictive.
Power wise they are pretty similar with these factors equaled out.

The LS1 is more advanced and is a ground up design. It's flows much better and the torque/hp curve on an LS1 is just nuts.
LT1's have crazy torque, but it flatlines and sometimes drops off after 4800 in near or stock form.

The LT1 is has Reverse flow cooling, it requires a Special radiator, and the waterpump/distibutor ( the good o'l OPti) are both driven by the Camshaft. The waterpump actually sits on/in front of the Opti.
The LT1 is generally harder to work on.
But its a very reliable motor for the most part and you will see many people on here with close to or more than 200K, and their engines run great.
LS1's are very reliable too.

LT1's are cast iron blocks with Aluminum Heads/ Aluminum Intake
LS1's are Aluminum blocks and Heads, and the intake is this special ceramic material that it lighter and runs cooler.

Thats all I feel like typing, Im hungry.

What makes the radiator special for the LT1 besides it being bigger than the non slp 98+'s?

For one thing, it has a port for the steam lines coming from the back of the heads--something unique to reverse flow...

Hmmm. Well note alot of LS1 guys go to our radiator because of the size but Ive never heard of a LT1 guy going to a LS1 radiator. Useless info but something I learned a couple of months ago.
