What Mods Does This have???
Ok going to test drive a 95 Formula tommorow. Ive been to the dealer to see it twice already, and after just looking at their website i saw a picture of the engine bay. I dont really want a heavily modified car, so i need to know if you guys see anything besides the obvious in the picture, because obviously the people at the dealer wont know whats done to it...
Its a 95 and i dont think Ram Air was availible that year, so obviously the ram air 1 hood and the airbox are added, but tahts fine because its from a newer TA/Formula anyway, and theres the strut tower brace, which i seriously doubt was factory. Besides those two things, can you see if theres anything else done?

Well i havent drove it yet. Iam basically looking at it to compare it to a 94 Stock Formula that i drove today. If it turns out to be nicer than the 94, and i can get a good price on it, then i might just end up with that. But again, i dont really want something modded past a catback.
The transmission on the 95 was rebuilt at the Pontiac Dealer that its for sale at...It only has 72k miles--Are the 4l60e's prone to problems or does this mean it was beat on and ****??
2 more unrelated Q's: What kinda gas do you put in LT1's?
and the 95 is the blue green chameleon color, is that rare at all?

If it was me I think Id go for the formula. The 95 sounds like it may have beat on because of it having mods and tranny failure but lets be honest, everyone beats on these cars and theyre 12-14 years old so you cant expect to find to many that are mint. Also I would NEVER buy a car this old from the stealership. I think you would be better off using autotrader or something. LT1 use premium gas. They knock with the cheap stuff. Also remember the formula will have a non vented opti and the camaro will have a vented.

Did anyone else notice that the Alternator looks brand spanking new? (might just be the picture though)... Wonder what else has been replaced. (Not that its a bad thing)

Clarification--Both cars (the 94 and 95) ARE Formulas. The 95 is that crazy blue green chameleon color, whereas the 94 is black. The black 94 has 82k miles and the 95 has 72k.
How do the 4l60e transmissions hold up? If i were to go with the 94 am i looking for problems in the near future or do they usually last a while. I will say one thing from looking at them both, the 95's exterior is in amazing shape, whereas the 94 black one has some little nicks, which might just be alot more noticable because the car is black...

Might want to check and make sure you don't get screwed on the price. From a dealer and those cars being fairly low miles and being 12 yrs old or so, they may burn you pretty bad. But that engine bay on the 95 looks clean, don't think it has headers either.

The 94 is being sold by a private party for $6300, which is a decent price. I would prefer to pay around $5500 for that one.
The 95 has an asking price of $8900, which is absurd, but its been sitting at the dealer for over a month now and if they dont sell it soon their just gonna end up taking it to auction and getting nothing for it. When i bought my 92 camaro (R.I.P), it had 45k miles and the new car dealer wanted 11k for it--i paid $6500. I know what these cars are worth and believe me i wont pay any more than that.
Ill keep you guys updated, as i should know after we test drive the 95 tommorow whether im going to get either one of them, and if so, which one. Any more info on reliability of LT1's as they near 100k miles or just of common problems and stuff would be greatly appricaited...

I'm sorry but to me 7-9k for a 94-95 is just way to much regardless but if youre willing to pay it and you feel it's worth it whos to say. I got my 94 last year vert a4 80k for around $3000.

look like stock Manifolds to me, and if they weren't car would have to have Cats, or they can't sell it. It would have to go to auction as a "Race car" At least in florida that the rule. My roomate had a 02 Z he traded in and the dealer wouldn't sell it to me because it had no cats.
