I wouldn't use brake cleaner, just go to your local radio shack or electronics store and find an electronics cleaner. I got a can from radio shack and have used it several times with no problems at all. I also very gently clean the MAF with the end of a Q-tip to clean up the small wires, you just have to be extremely careful. When using the Q-tip I barely even touch the small wires, but after you have sprayed it with the electronics cleaner the build up should come off easily.

Yea, use a Q-tip, be real gentle with the wires. I cleaned mine, take you time with it so you don't break it.
