Pictures of my Single Plain Induction Setup!
Alright guys,
I really dont know were i can go to get an intake elbow and stuff for the new setup and id rather DYI for now and save some money. This is going to be my Drag intake setup.
45* PVC pipe bend
4in Ruber clamp
Some **** for a drying mashine
And an Air duct
$25.00 at Home Deopt
Do you guys think this will work very well? Or should I do 2 inlets and have them come throught the fog light openings?
There cell phone pics again.
Let me know what oyu guys think.

Is this going over the radiator and then down to the fog openings? If so then yeah it will work great.
"It looks ghetto" is not a problem. If the setup works who cares what it looks like.
I used some washin mashine **** too and I call my creation the GRA (ghetto ram air)
As soon as I get a cowl hood and can clear it I will be running the same setup as Ben does on that crazy fast LT1 of his.
Be creative, do something no one has done on a 4th gen before. I am not a big fan of following the crowd.

Normally I'm all for DIY to save money but you're going with a single plane intake right?????
Well if you're aiming to make that much power and won't spend the extra to do something like say what tony Shepherd has on his motor (basically a fabricated 3.5 or 4" intake tube down to the drivers side headlight back) where the filter is where it usually is then you need to re-think the single plane idea.....
It comes back to the adage you get what you pay for.. Although this is about the best engineered DIY project I've seen so far it still comes down to the fact that you are using parts that belong on a Maytag and not a car.... don't take it wrong just my .02....

OutlawZ I agree, if you are going to spend the money on the single plain don't cut yourself short on the rest of the induction. Me and Tony talked about this before, I was planning on running a LS1 induction with my Lid setup, The less bends the air has to make the better. I would get a Aluminized pipe and take it to a exhuast shop with a mandral bender and it would be easy to fab something up.
Speed Density I think you got your idea from Ben Moore's car when you seen it in hotrod, but he used a solid piece of tubbing like what we a describing, and what Tony did. I would just do a 3.5 inch pipe which that will connect to the Maf perfectly.
No Flame intened but your induction looks like a Home Depot special that will heat soak rather quickly.

can't fault you for trying that's for sure....
But generally when you try and half *** something even to save money you will get half *** performance and then have to make excuses like honda guys do....
"But my dryer tube got heat soaked and that's why I missed third gear and couldn't hook either"...

PVC is not awful for a bend but will shatter under a backfire. Backfires that go all the way through the throttle are really rare unless you're messing with the timing bad.
The dryer tubing is not truly airtight under a vacuum, and if you stick a filter on the end you will have some pressure drop under ambient. It will let in small dust that is eventually bad for your motor. For track days I wouldn't worry, but for 40K miles I wouldn't do it.
This is the tubing I used - it is hi-heat silicon tubing used for aircraft ducting:

It is the bottom stuff - the orange. But for your use, in front of the motor you could go with the cheaper black stuff on top. I used it before for air intake and it lasted easily 50K miles.
