Default LT1 5500 RPM engine stumble...Need advice please.

Here is the deal.
Weeks ago I had a severe 5500-redline stumble. I replaced the coil with a warranty coil and the stumble was completely gone, or significately reduced.

I then replaced the warranty coil with an MSD coil.
The stumble is back but not near as bad, I really dont think its te MSD coil. It is most noticable in second and especially third ger between 5500-redline.

I have checked for arcing and there is none. Fuel pressure is 37# & 45#. Wires are new and seem to be on correctly, plugs are 6 months old and gapped at .055. I have reloacated engine ground strap. Scanmaster says there is very little KR.

Any ideas, I really want to fix this.

Two words come to mind....Opti-Spark...

Most of the ones I lost started out that way. Carbon tracking started to build up on the cap and I would start seeing top end miss-fires. As the carbon build up and tracking would get worse the RPM for miss's got worse and drop down the RPM range.

You Might get away with just a new cap and rotor for $150 but with the work it takes you might want to think about a whole new Opti just for a freash start

Good luck!

That's exactly how my car felt whent the cap and rotor took a poop. The msd box nearly melted all the pins off of the cap. It ran great at low rrr's but the longer I left the problem go the worse it got.

As soon as I put the MSD cap and rotor on they annocced the msd billet optispark. I wasn't too pleased......
When I was in there I saw some spotty rust on the disks, I don't seem to have any issues though so far with the MSD cap and rotor, coil and a 6a.

Looking like I will put a GM opti on it, the MSD is too expensive and unproven right now.
