Default Rpm

I'm lost sometimes. If you haven't changed out the cam, is there any point in running the motor past 5400? Every dyno I've seen of the LT1 stock and with bolt ons shows power peaking at 5200 and around 5400 its only down 20hp or so. After that power seems to start rapidly dropping off, but still I read that other thread where he is taking it from 5500 to redline. Maybe I don't understand, is there a reason to even go to redline if massive amounts of power have dropped off?? Does this put you back in the powerband quicker after the shift? This is the only thing I figure. Even so has to put hell on your valvesprings.
