Default torque converter

can someone tell me how to find out if my torque converter went out... my car wont go anywhere how can I find out if its causing all my problems???????

It is probably your hydraulic pump. Did you jack the car up by the tranny at all or have a cracked bellhousing?

no.... nothing when I put in gear....I hear a low clicking/ticking from the torque converter.... then car will move a little bit at like 3500 to 4000 r.p.m's

Oh yeah. I had that happen to me a while back. Luckily I was close to home. Probably going to need a rebuild.

do a stall test. if the rpms are where they are supposed to be, should not be it. not that familiar with autos but i think the pump is mechanically connected to the tc (the clunk you get when a tc sinks before you install the tranny). not sure how you could tell if it was just the pump other than line pressure maybe. good luck

well I cranked it up this morning and it moved fine until it warmed up!?!
