Default Question on KR

Hi everyone,

I scanned my car with an Autotap a couple of days ago and noticed I had a stored knock retard code. I cleared it but it seemed like the car immediately became sluggish again RIGHT after clearing it and driving. I haven't scanned it again to confirm that its back, but what could be causing this? Only mods are K&N CAI, PCMFORLESS Tune (Advanced the timing I think) and Magnaflo catback.

I ordered an LT4 Knock Module since I'm getting longtubes in a week or two, will putting it on now possibly get rid of the knock retardation?

It doesn't sound like I've spun a bearing or anything, just the usual injector clicking and alternator whirring.

Anyhelp would be great, this is really starting to get me down.

Check to see if its real. Put some higher grade fuel in there and see if it goes away. If it does, then more than likely it real, if it doesnt well, its false.

Is it popping the ses light also? I installed a bad knock sensor from Napa once, I could clear the code and then it would come back 5 seconds later. Maybe your knock sensor is on its way out.

Nope, no SES light.

I'm still pretty confused...anyone have any other insight?

Sure it's not a knock sensor circuit code? Never heard of a knock retard code. You evidently have an issue with a knock sensor, or more likely the connector on one. Heat is hard on those plastic connectors. I would get a shop manual and work the diagnostic flow chart for the code you are seeing.
An LT4 knock module is not going to fix anything. I never use them.

Good luck, Ed

Ed,

I'll recheck it tomorrow and see (when I have my laptop).

It always seems like if there is a knock code at all people rush to the conclusion that there is a spun rod or something, so that freaked me the hell out.

Only things going on with the car are it seems sluggish sometimes, and lots of vibration at idle. Doesn't sound like a woodpecker in my headers or oil pan or anything.

Edit: Come to think of it, I think it was a sensor code. I'll update tomorrow.
