electric water pump guys??!?!?!?!
I have the pump mounted on the car already but I am not sure of the freeze plug thats in the back of it.
they said to tap it into the hole in the back. well I was able to tap it into it, then it slide out the other side. then I read to put a little RTV on it to hold it in place. so I did but the same results. I then tapped it in before it got to the point of sliding out and just gobbed RTV everywhere.
It dried... well I can press of the freeze plug and it moves about a millimeter than stops. but it moves a millimeter. would this be ok for this pump not to leak? I was going through my mind all the things that can fail on my setup and this came to mind. do you think its able to take the pressure? am I ok? it is hard to press down, and it only moves very slightly.
I just dont want to have coolant all over my nice new distributor.

I'd start over with another freeze plug, I've never seen one loose on the 1/2 dozen we've changed, JB might work, your choice man, would be a pain to start over later.

I just recently yanked the stock impeller out of a stock housing i had..
I used a 30mm freeze plug, and sanded it down around the edges for about 2 mins. just taking a little bit off. used a socket and a hamer to pound it in, then turned it over, and put copper seal around the inside- it aint comin out....
I also used s small threaded plug to put in the bottom of the "weep" hole.
I dont have any leaks.

I'd try another plug (slightly larger if you have to)
Although I've heard of people using 50cent peices LOL

I have a second housing. I was going to have a local shop owned by a friend just weld the holes shut...like I did the timing cover. either that or have them thread it.
Thanks everyone!!!

I cracked my waterpump housing during removal, that was part of the reason for JBWeld as well. I had a backup waterpump / housing if need be, but I've never used it... the Weld has held.

Now to make it fit in the housing though you need to take it to a machine shop or get yourself a file and a grinder or a small angle grinder and grind out the notches in the housing for the waterpump to fit in.. it takes about 20 mins to do that... then you plug your weep hole, and the hole in the back of the water pump, then plug the hole in the timing cover, put the water pump back on and your good to go!
