Default Yet ANOTHER header thread!inside please!

So i have been having this delima. i want headers, i was going to go for jet hot long tubes but than i begun to look at pacesetter long tubes and they are cheaper. So is pacesetter a good brand?

but another part of my question, my car is lowered(prokit), will i scrap? if that is so should i look into midlengths and do they gain the same amount of power as long tubes?
thanks

i have pacesetters, and am lowered on intrax, which are probably same as the prokit if not lower, if i could have done it over again i would have gone with midlengths. pacesetters i do like tho.

Waste of money? Doubt it. Plenty of guys make good power on midlengths, even shorties. ANYTHING is better than the stock crap IMO.

I think my Hookers are mid lengths they couple with the Y pipe down by the oil pan.

And they were an improvement over stock for sure. Now against full lengths I don't know, if I could do it over??? yea i might have gone for full lengths like he said above why not go the full extreme?

I went with this cuz I was lazy and did not want the work that can sometimes be involved with full lengths and did not want to deal with any scraping on those dang speed bumps, they tend to loosen the header bolts which I also detest. So I went with my infamous **** it and skipped the full lengths, when I rebuild my block I will be going full length tho for sure cuz I will be coming in from the bottom so this is more or less my temporary/lazy setup. I can recommend them for the same reasons but if u want yur full dollars worth full length is the way to go.

BTW i also bought these used with y pipe for like 225. There was no way I would have chosen this over full lengths if I had to go new and prices were comparable.

Also back in the day my 74 camaro had full lengths and it sounded like there was a dragon undermyhood. My 93 with this setup sounds more like there's a reaaally mean guy with a blowtorch down there. But not quite as skerry as a dragon. Thats not to say this doesn't haul more *** cuz it does......I'm 32 so no this isnt fogie talk.

mac midlength get almost the same HP gaines as most LT's do, and they sound badass, if you are going to lower your car with headers my vote is for Macs.

its a good motto to go by i just think if your gonna go through the money and work if not gonna gain maximum power

On a stock/bolton motor, the power gains between mids and LTs is almost nonexistant. I have AS&M mids (1.75" primaries) and still run 13.50s in 2000'+ DA. You really do not want LTs if you are lowered and your streets aren't the best around.

I have Jet Hot brand LT's on my '94 and they deliver.

I have Pacesetter coated LT's on my '99 and the fuggin' Y-pipe bangs. Took a lot of tweaking to make it stop.

I would recommend Jet Hot's, even though my only experience with Pacesetter is on an LS1.

I think I got mine through Nitro Dave. After the installation, drive the car and let everything heat cycle, then snug the header bolts again. Do that at least one more time and it should be fine.

jet hot's,hookers',pacesetter's.. headers are pretty much the same IMO... y pipe is what is gonna separate the brands.. i've had hookers/ and jet hot's both w/ mufflex y pipe.. made great power. .did scrape but nothing too crazy..

Don't know about Jet Hot's Y-pipe. I'm using their headers with true duals. The Y pipes just slide into your I pipe, then you tighten the clamp.
