LT1 no tune cam+nitrous
my buddy has a 97 LT1 TA and he is thinking about putting in a comp cam XE 276HR cam...230in 220ex 112 LSA...anyways its an M6, with a slowmaster, lt's, ory, CAI, also he wants to spray a 125 shot, how do guys think the car would do w/o a tune? Would it be ok? Also what kind of power do you guys think he could make with this setup...

I think he must not like his car or engine too much if he dosen't get a tune. You have to be either ignorant or retarded to refuse a tune. For $90 i dont see why he wont tune it. If he just dosn't relize how important a tune is then that something else but if he is cheaping out then thats another story. It should make some great hp with that set up and supporting mods, i could see 11's in his future and it would be a shame to throw it all away over something as simple as a tune.

You could let him do it, would be an expensive lesson but he would learn to not do stupid things like that again.
Being OBD2 the tune will be over $90 but you can still get one for under $200.
DO NOT MODIFY A COMPUTER CONTROLLED CAR WITHOUT ADDRESSING THE COMPUTER! Simple as that, if he/you refuse to setup the computer for the mods sell it and buy an oldschool carbed POS and stick to going slow with bad drivability it will be cheaper than going slow with bad drivability like you would without a tune. Now treat a computer car right and you can have suprizing power with great drivability. My Caprice will do 12s hot and humid on a 100K stock shortblock 150 miles from home and get over 17mpg including blasting the AC and the racing, no way would that happen if I didn't EMBRACE what the computer can do.
