Default LS1 catback on an LT1?

Did a little searching and couldnt find anything that was in-depth on this. Only posts saying it could be done.

What exactly has to be done to get a cat-back made for an LS1 to fit on a single-cat LT1 car?

it needs a "S" pipe The only company i know that makes a kit for that is SLP check out there web site for more info.

If you have LT headers and ORY pipe then it doesnt matter as im running a 98-02 hooker cat back on my car because of the bigger exhaust pipes & tips.

all you really need is that s pipe. slp sells it in a kit with hangers. the only thing is it costs like 70+. you could probably make one yourself or have an exhaust shop fab something up for you for a lot less coinage. that pipe is nothin more then a foot long bent tube. i had to get one to get my loudmouth2 to bolt up to my single-cat z28.

So if you have LTs and an ORY you dont need anythign extra besides the catback to get it to work?

go to your local exhaust shop and get them to do it thats what i did saved me a lot of money cause i had a custom ORY made at the same time to hook up my LT's to the TSP Rumbler but im sure you could get them to do it cheaper than buying the s from slp then paying shipping

96-97 need nothing, earlier need the aforementioned S pipe. SLP sells it but it's kind of expensive. If nothing else, get an exhaust shop to use the ball joint end of the exhaust that's on there (stock maybe?) and go from there. Good luck.

Good exhaust shop will take care of this for you. Im getting ready to put the dual dual on my LT1 from a 02 SS. Ive done it with my old LT1 cars in the past also. No big deal

I had a 00 SS SLP on my car that we fabed up. Just got some 98+ hangers and had to do some welding. Nothing that a muffler shop, or someone with a welder can do....

I'm about to install a true dual system from an 00 onto my 93, but w/ the longtubes and ORY pipe, as mentioned it doesn't matter after that. The y has to be fabbed as LS1 headers come out differently than LT1 headers, but behind that is all easy.

i have the slp loudmouth (which i love) on my 96 lt1 i went to a local muffler shop thinking the kit i had ordered from slp to make it fit my car was in the box it wasnt and the shop made it fit pretty easily and turned out nice. i do have the kit though it came in a week later brand new in packaging i will sell it to you if you need it for 20 bucks it only costs like me like 35 dollars through slp. write me a message if your interested.
