Default start up problem???? help!!!

when i go to start my 97 trans am i turn the key and nothing happens except a click(like a dead battery). i turn the key off and turn it again... it usually does this 3-4 times then will start like normal... so i know the battery is fine. what is causing this to happen(faulty ignition???)...

thanks

How would it be a bad starter if it does start???? Try your ignition switch, not the cylinder. SECURITY light on?

the starter is going bad and cause excessive voltage drop while trying to start. if he replaces his start and solenoid it will fix the problem. starter is easy to replace

Yea i had the same problem for a while till i figured out what it was. It was the starter just one day went into the garage got in the car and nothing. Replaced the starter good as new. Get the LT4 mini starter save some weight and it's a neat lil peice.
