Default LT1 shuts off randomly during driving, any ideas?

A friend of mine has a 95 impala SS with an LT1. It randomly shuts off during driving, but always starts right back up. He replaced the fuel pump and related items which didn't help. He also mentioned that the entire car was recently detailed, including the engine. I'm thinking theres a chance something got wet or messed up. I don't know much about LT1's, anyone have any ideas on what to check or look for? We'd like to start with the fairly easy common things first, then look into more serious possibilities. Thanks for any help.

Could be a high res failure but that would leave a code. I'd say check the opt harness first and scan it for codes.

With a High Res Failure the light would only pop up for a brief moment then go off but it would still be saved. Did he run a scanner yet? I'd also verify the fuel pressure using the proper methods.

The 96 I bought had that problem. Turned out to be the opti, he had an oil leak that soaked the opti and shorted out the optical device. Check that maybe?

Yea I would check the electrictal side, make shure nothing is grounding out before its time or pourpose, seince there has been no codes set. For instence check the spark plugs to see if all 8 are firing and trace the system back from there.

Same thing happened to me. Optispark was shot. Would drive and the car would stutter, sometimes just die for no reason. Then it would start like nothing was wrong. Just installed a new MSD.
