Default code 42

i had a map senser that came unplugged and got a check engine light so i took a friends snapon scaner and cleared it. After that the light come back for code 42. Now the scaner said that it was opti-spark circuit break or somthing like that. my question is, what is code 42 really and how do i fix or test for it? Is it possible to test?I cleaned the computer after i got code 42 and it hasnt came on agin. But the car misses really bad at highway speed and under wide open throttle? The opti is like 6 mouths old, and i use delteq ing. system. Im thinking its my opti spark . but im going to check plugs, wires and connectors to niight.

code 42 is ignition control circuit shorted.

That's usually the coil/icm or a bad ground/short between the pcm and coil/icm.

If the MAP worked its way loose, check and see if the opti harness may have came loose too. I was getting a lo res failure (DTC 43 I think) and my miss wasn't even that bad. I too have a Delteq and if the MAP worked its way off, check the coils too. I had a bad miss once and my coils weren't bolted down well enough and they were losing contact with the terminals.

Yeah I wasn't sure what DTC 42 was. In that case, double check all your Delteq harnesses. Also the ground on the driver side head where you would have installed the Delteq module might have been damaged. I know mine was.
