You need a box that is set up with a 2 step or is able to add on a 2 step.

like an MSD6AL box with added 2 step or some of the new digital boxes have 2 steps in them.

Wire it up and go.

I guess I need to clarify (you didn't tell me anything I didn't already know)... How did you wire it up? Through the clutch switch? Or on a button, what?

Thanks!

That is your choice.
I like the clutch idea but what you going to do during shifts? the clutch pedal will activate the 2 step unless you have a cut off switch....

I would rather have it on a switch, like on the steering wheel or shifter.

The guys that use a switch on the clutch pedal normally have clutchless transmissions. Wouldn't work too well otherwise.

basically, press button, clutch in, throttle, and it will rev and stay at whatever rpm you set it for. so you can sit at the line and know you are revving at 3000 rpm and slip it out for there. Works great for boosted cars as it allows them to build boost at the line.

I was thinking of trying to make the stock clutch switch work, as whenever I'm shifting, I don't go all the way to the floor. I just don't know if it would work, or how to make it work if it was possible.

Thanks for the info guys, keep it coming!

Or you could have someone who does electrical work for a living suggest or even draw up a diagram using a relay to hold the 2 step in until you let out the clutch

Do you have the Mallory 685 box, the MSD 6 box, a MSD 2step box or what??? We need to know what 2 step you are running in order to tell you how to hook it up. I do this stuff for a living, I'll draw you up a diagram, or make the circuit for you so all you have to do is plug and play

Right now I have a Crane Hi-6 box on the car, but I could be going to a Digital 6 in the future. I don't have a 2 step yet.

I appreciate the help!!

I appreciate the help!!

Does the Crane box have a 2 step on it?

If I might, can I make a suggestion? I think if you compare boxes you 'll find the the Mallory 685 is the better bang for the buck and I alredy have schematics drawn up for a 685 box wired into a transbrake/linelock,nitrous kit, purge and bottle heater. but you can use the relays to control other things instead. Or I have one drawn up for the MSD 6 box and 2 step.

Michigan Skip,
Does your 685 schematic also have the 2step built in?
I'd be interested in seeing that.

So, is this kinda like a trans brake type of deal. This is all new to me. Does the Digi 6 have this feature because that's what I'm running and can see how that is benificial. How do you wire it up with a switch??

Digital 6 does have one built in.

I have a Harlan 2-step in my LS1 car. Love it. Don't have to worry about 'where' you're launching from. When my motor was cam only, I'd just bounce it off the rev limiter and dump the clutch. But since I raised my rev limiter, I typically have the 2-step set to ~6100 to launch (depending on if the track will hold it). Nothin' quite like a 6k+ RPM clutch dump on ET Drags with the nitrous activating when the 2-step disengages.
