Default Cant pass emissions need help!

We have a 94 z with, Shortys and a single high flow, Cold air, Cam(size unknown the seller did not know), and hypertech hand held. The car was bought last week went through emissions and failed. The hydrocarbons were 808. The legal limit is 220! Does anyone have ideas?

Could be that the cam in there is too big for emissions. Or it could need a real tune instead of the hypertech to get it running right.

Is there any way you can find out about the cam? That would help. If you have a tight LSA with a lot of valve overlap, that is going to hurt. Also, get rid of the Hypertech and go to a dyno and get tuned (or detuned) as the case might be. Do you know for sure that the cat is functional as opposed to being gutted? Do you have larger injectors? I'm still trying to get through emissions myself. I just replaced my CC305 112LSA with a blower cam and we are going to switch to smaller injectors for the test along with some tuning. Good luck.

make sure you run it good and then dont let it set and idle before the emissions are tested. I have a 93 with a gutted cat with a pipe in it. failed first time so i took it out and "ran" it came back and they couldnt hardly get a reading on the emissions

Check for exhaust leaks at the header flanges.
