Default Which Headers?

I'm installing an LT1 into my 73 firebird...I'm looking into headers and wondering if the bolt pattery and exhaust ports of the LT1 heads are the same as old school small bock chevy's. If that is the case wouldn't I be able to buy a set of headers made to fit a small block chevy in a second gen f-body? Thanks.....

i dont reccomend doing that. you can get a set of long tubes fairly cheap now. pacesetter probably makes the best bang for the buck header out there and they offer it coated and non coated.

Well I spoke with someone at Pacesetter and he told me they do not have a header for my application. I asked about the small block Gen I headers and he said the bolt pattern is the same but the exhaust ports are different. Spoke with someone at Hooker and he also did not have an exact header for my application but did say that a 1 3/4 primary hooker for a small blcok Gen I would work. Bolt pattern is the same and the 1 3/4 primary will cover/seal the LT1 d port exhuast ports. I got one that says it's okay and another here that says don't recommend it. Anyone for the tie breaker?

Exactly. The ports are different but they will work. Itll be your most economic choice plus like I said lots of guys are doing it. If you really want cheap get some headman headers

Yeah Hedman is junk but it's cheap. I like Hooker myself.
