Default Need help with LS1 springs on LT1 head ????

I am comparing comp cams beehive 26918-16 springs against
stock (2001-2002) LS1 springs to fit on an LT1 head . My question is...

1. How much lift can stock LS1 springs handle ?

2. Will comp cams 787-16 retainers fit on LS1 springs ?

3. Will LS1 springs handle up to .600 lift on an LT1 head ?

Thanks in advance

don't waste your time with any of it!!!

done been down that road, tried ls6 springs/shims and comp beehive retainers with my comp 501 on 1.6's.

car wouldn't rev beyond 6200 and started losing power at 5500.

not enough spring pressure for the install height.

just buy the 26918-16 comp springs and the 787-16 retainers for those springs, everything is already proven to work.

As stated above use the correct spring per application. I run K-Motion springs which are capable of .700 lift I am only running .596 and it revs to 6800 RPM several times a day with no problems.

but do they require machining of the heads for the seats or are they a direct replacement. If you ain't going with a cam with a higher lift than .600 your best bet is the comp cam 918 springs the best thing about the 918s they rev alot faster because they aren't dual springs.
