How could it possibly not fit right, a CAI doesnt sit any higher then the TB, so I dont think they know what they are talking about. You will see more performance with a CAI also.

Do not get a "lid" stock ram air is crap. Lids are ok but if you want better performance gains get a CAI, volant makes a very nice twin filter setup that works very well with the ram air pontiac hoods.

i would do the ls1 style ram air with a lid. from personal experience i watched a guy (was a WS6 LS1 A4 but i dont think that would make to big a difference) go from a 13.9-14.0 to a 13.6 just swapping over from a stock lid with baffles, to a aftermarket lid. it was good enough for me, if i get a ram air style hood im doing a ls1 style ram-air, cause i know my CAI didnt make that big a difference

well he must have hooked better cuz now way is a lid going to knock off .4 tenths of a second at around $100 with a lid

rear end gears and torque convertors are lucky if they take off .4-.5 depending on setup

and what CAI are you using? i know for my first mod it made a very good performance gain J/W

CAI and ram air are basicly the same thing. Get wich ever one you want. If you go with the ram air you should upgrade the lid though.

it made that big a difference his 60ft was only like a few hundredths off his original times it helped him big time on the top end, ill ask him for his slips tomorrow when i go to class, i think he is keeping them in his car, his car is completely stock, not a single mod, put the lid on and it ran that, i was just sitting there going WTF!!! myself. He got back and me, him and the rest of the fbody crew out there were laughing mostly at him cause of the look on his face because of the difference it made

The only same thing is they both induce air in the throttle body, no way will a stock ram air setup perform the same as a volant twin filter even with a lid, the volant twin filter intake setup is best only for pontiac ram air hood setups.

Camaro ram air cannot be compared to trans am ram air setups. Camaro ram air is junk. So I hope nobody is confusing the two.

.
True, but an aftermarket Intake will give you more power than Ram Air every time.

I recommend K&N or Moroso.
I got an Aluminum and Polished Trickflow Elbow with a Moroso and it works great.

get a regular highflow lid from where ever you want i.e. slp, mti, whisper. instead of running it down flip the it over and run it with a high flow filter. im sure some of the other ls1 guys can tell you about this setup on some there ram air cars. works pretty good with the shape of 98+ ram air hood. just a thought.

That is exactly what I am saying, but the volant aftermarket "cai" is also still ram air (for T/A's), the Volant setup has to twin filter design right behind the intake ports, so its still technically "ram air" but its a "Cai intake"

Now thats for trans am with the ram air ports in the front.

Now as for camaros, unless you have a front port opening on a aftermarket hood, a SLP cai is good to go along with a trick flow elbow which will gain a good amount. My SLP cai alone on my otherwise stock 97z28 a4 2.73 chirped 2nd gear without flooring it. Which impressed me.

i dont think i can get the volant because it says its for 2000 and up t/a's, ill probably just go with the moroso since its alittle cheaper than the k&n. And does the aftermarket elbow really help that much.

I looked at a 97 ws6 and a 98 I guess the bolt pattern on the airbox is a little different, but still doesnt mean it wont fit, but i know thats more work then you wanna get into and volant is almost 300 dollars.

If you want a really good cai go with the SLP its very sexy, and gives a great performance boost. Try to stay away from K&N cais.

where are yall getting the rubber connector to go from the throttle body to the maf? ive got an idea for a new t/a cai that involves twin filters and ditching the fog lights but i need that piece so i can try to map out what im doing.
