Default tunercat help please

I'm putting new 3.73 in my Impala and I'm using tunercat to set the speedo values.
If anyone can help me set the proper scalers and such, I would really appreciate it. I have the proper 14 tooth abs stator so I know the pulses will be 14. I just need to know what else I need to change or correct. I had heard that the Tunercat speedo calibration table is kinda off the mark. But if I'm close I'm happy.

I'm pritty sure that the pulses are based on the VSS and not the reluctor, so that should be 40 not 14.

I know the pulses change to 14 since the new reluctor is 14 tooth. I'm just not sure what the other stuff should be.

Anyone??

just punch in your tire size and new gear ratio. Tunercat isnt the best for speedo calculations, but it comes close.

The pcm does not care one bit about the ABS reluctor. I have not played with speedo in TC atall yet but know enough to say you are on the wrong track.

If you look at the top toolbar there is a "tools" tab click on that and life will get a little easier.

OK, I think I got it...somewhat. 96 you're right for the abs reluctor. I was doing 85 out my 80 ft driveway having it with 14 pulses. went back put in 40 and I think I'm pretty darn close. Just need to check against my truck when the wife gets home.

Anyone have suggestions on performance up-shift speeds with the hotmcam?

our cars use the regular upshift points.

What kind of supporting mods do you have to go with the hot cam? not sure a stock trans will love you spinning this high, but last time I checked the hot cam is a very rev happy cam... like in the 6500rpm range

Stg 2 heads, ported intake, Ported MAF 52mm TB, LTs, 2800stall, etc, etc.

Tis car has just benn on daily driver duty for the last 2 years. It's the wifes and I've been either deployed or putting time and $ in my old Camaro.

well im no tuner, but if you want to get the shift points down, it might be best to throw it on the dyno to see where it will make power till, then go from there.

Tuning for the ported MAF would be a HIGH priority. Porting them does little besides destroy the calibration.

Brian Herter did my original tune (mail order) and had to one small adjustment for the MAF. But since I port heads the MAF was easy. he did pretty good but there is still more to be gained.
All I do is mess with my idle and shift points. All other parameters are a little outta my league. Greek to me. I'll stick to carburation for real horsepower.

But I'm getting it little by little. Just trying to get some info so I can get close without spend 2 tanks of gas, hours upon hours and maybe even a ticket from our local yocals who are ticket happy.
