i recently blew my engine this past month. i blew a connecting rodd and snapped it in half. i need to know if you can pull and lt1 out off a 96' t/a with out dropping it. i got the intake, heads, alt., raditor off. all i got is the block and pan. i want a future 383 stroker. let me know.!!!!!!!!!!>>>>>>>>>>>

You broke the rod or the rod bolts? The rods are fairly strong on these motors. At this stage it's easier to pull the motor from top provided you have an engine hoist. I've fabed up a lifting plate that attaches to the 3 5/16" threaded holes at the lifter valley, makes it much easier.

TPIS happy hooker all the way. Don't even have to remove the hood.
If you're just replacing the engine, I'd do it out the top. IMO it's easier since you don't have to disconnect power steering or brake lines.
