Default Is it possible to smack a valve with the Lt1

I was just wondering if it was possible for a valve to hit the pistion on a STOCK lt1 if you indexed the the opti wrong or the timming was off for whatever reason. Thanks

I could be wrong but I don't think so just from your opti indexing, even with incorrect valve lash on the stocker you have plenty of piston to valve clearance.

if the cam timing is off in reference to the crank, the pistons and valve can smack. but by the time the motor reached that point, it wouldn't even run. i would take a severely stretched/ broken timing chain, sheared/twisted cam gear to cam bolts, or a twisted/broken camshaft(highly unlikely to happen). ignition timing itself will not affect PTV clearance.

What is the piston to valve clearance on a stock LT1, just out of curiosity ?

Correct, why the PtoV is so important when you build a race engine, you want it right much less having room for growth in cams, different rockers, etc. I want to say the stock lt1s were around 0.50 or so, something like that it's been a long time but I found it somewhere online, might even be in a auto manual what the stock clearance is.
