Default Headers

alright i have hooker long tubes on my lt1 but then it splits in to a y-pipe does this defeat the purpose of headers?

that has nothing to do with headers, the Y pipe is part of the Header Back.

No the longtubes still scavenge the same, it just goes into a single pipe back to the muffler as opposed to one pipe per header with true duals.

headers are to just flow better to the ypipe and back... stock ones are just restrictive in flow it hurts performance... thats all...

I have kinda a related question what gains can you see going to true duels with LTs running no cats of course would it even be worth the trouble or not. I have the stock 3" exhaust and cut my cat I will be putting hooker LTs on and havent decied if i should go dual or not.

i dont think there are any signigicant gains over the catback system... if there are any at all... its all just preference... the design of most catback systems for these cars are capable of handling anything now days...
