Default LT4 Starter or LT1 starter??????????

Got a real quick question on starters.
Just found out my starter was bad.
Will an LT4 starter be ok to get? or better to get?
Or do I need to stay with the lt1 starter?

Go with the LT4 starter. Works alot better with headers if you have them.

I love my High torque powermaster starter,
My stock starter had a hard time starting my motor 11.3-1 CR
No problems with my new starter.. and its not that much more $$$ I think I paid $199.

Im guessing their not the same starters. These at O'Riely's look identicle to my LT1 starter. I might just order thru Dal.
I thought the LT4 starter were supposed to be NEW.
O'Riely's are remanufactured as well as AutoZone.

if you want a Delco speced remaned LT1 vette starter, you need to buy them from Autozone. Duralast brand. Mine was $120 after returned core and lifetime warranty. Expect to pay over $200 for a LT1 vette starter from Dal (no implied warranty I know of).

FYI not sure if something has been revised, but the LT1 vette and LT4 vette starters are the same..

Another vote for the LT4 style...Broke 3 LT1 starters with my 11.2:1 383...Also tried the PM9502, but it rubbed my flexplate in while in gear (shimming didn't help) Anyway, the LT4 works great and clears my Kooks stepped LTs just fine...I use the AdvanceAuto Beck-Arnley brand and its been good so far...

I'll have to see if I can grab a picture of mine. I had a picture on here, but it seems as if the place I "borrowed" it from changed the pic..

This is what a Delco or Durlast LT1 starter will look like...

AS you can see it's a lot smaller than the stock unit.

Yep, thats the LT4 style...It turns over my 11.2:1 383 very well...Its a stronger unit than the regular LT1 type for the F-bods...

are you guys wrapping the starters with anything when you put them in new...or are they ok by themselves if you have headers. my stock starter solenoid is about an inch away from the header so i need something different. keeps overheating the solenoid.

I have not wrapped mine, but I'm going to get that velcro starter heat shield stuff from Summit, just for good measure...

I replied but it must have got deleted or something.

Just tell them you need a duralast starter for a 95 Corvette. It will be the right one

I have headers on mine and never have a problem. I can measure the distance if you'd like, but I havent had problems
