Default LT1's dont like water

This has happens to me alot when it rains and i hit a big puddle my engine dies and i have to wait for it to dry out to start it back up (like a 5min wait). this happend to me tonight twice and it just pisses me off. Of course it always happens on major roads and the z28 is a bitch to turn with no power stearing. I assume that its the opti getting wet. Is there anyway to prevent this?

Um... best way to prevent it is dont drive in water.. lol...

Lt1s and water not getting along is pretty common knowledge... most distributers dont like water, but they aren't in the f-ed up place the opti is...

hmm maybe you need to change wires, cap and rotor? I have a 95 Z28 and go through any puddle's, i have even washed my engine (spray on Simple green and rinsed with watter) and it fires right up.

I will bet dollars to donuts its not the opti but crappy plug wires. When they get wet they will arc like crazy.

Do this, fill a spray bottle with water and spray down the wires COMPLETELY and listen for the ticking and watch for the sparks. My brand new Elite spark plug wires did this straight out of the box. I ended up getting som 8.5mm MSD wires and no problem.

Before I could not drive in the rain, after I can hit 6" puddles at 55MPH and not miss a beat.

I got 8.5mm msd wires. However, When i replaced my plug wires I replaced the ones going to the plus and coil but there was this other wire (i think i dont really remember to well) just hanging off the opti not plugged into anything and the car ran fine just like that so i didnt touch it. Anyone know what that wire is and what should i do with it.

Check your cap. Mine was leaking, and after a hard rain, my car wouldnt start sometimes. I would start there. But if you are able to, I would just replace the opti with the billet one. I saw it on the net. Had a nice pricetag, not sure if it is worth it, but it looks nice.

And if I am not mistaken, I think MSD makes a replacement for the opti or something. Someone correct me on that if I am wrong.
