WTF?? Crazy Wire Problems... Starter? BCM? TDR?
Ok i've been all over my car trying to figure out wht the hell is going on.
Thought it came down to a bad starter.
I pulled my starter out, put it in a vice, hooked jumper cables to it from the battery. Use a small wire from small terminal to Pos (+) and I just get loud clicking and no spinning. Then the cables start to get really hot. And when I started my car 2 days ago by jumping the TDR the wires from the battery (POS AND NEG) melted together. So I figured that's my prob, a bad starter.
Them I yank out my brothers starter out of his 96 camaro.
Does that same thing. So now I dont know what the hell to do.
How do you test a starter out of the car? Shouldnt it spin when you jump it?

take it to an autozone or something and they have testers.. when you jump leads like that... its so hot its welding itself together... thats a very dangerous way to test a starter.. you may have fried more on the car now... check the resistance in the POS and NEG battery cables... and see how much of a voltage drop you get at the starter when you try to start it..

Starter is good by the way.
here we go
We jumped the theft deterrent again and started up the car. That the only way it will start.
We have power to the TDR and the yellow and black wire IS grounded. checked relay and is good for sure. The coil is not tripping the relay which means that the yellow and black is not grounded when it tries to start. So does this mean a bad BCM?? WIndows, radio, interior lights, and Trunk , ect still dont work,
and there is power to the BCM by the way.
Help please

then have the VATS tuned out of the car... thats what is keeping it from starting or see if a dealership can reprogram the car to recognize the chip... sometimes they fail to recognize the key thats been there for years...

This is where im at now.
we changed the BCM out and used the correct resistor and still same problem. No power windows, interior lights, hatch release and ect...
Which wires supply power to BCM? The schematics show a red and orange wires and we have neither. The (D5 pink) ignition wire gets power.
The C1 black wire has ground. The horn had power (c9 black wire). We read the right resistance across (D7 white/black) and (C2 purple/white).
The Theft deterrent relay (yellow/Black wire) is NOT grounded.
That's about all I can think of right now
