Re: Best cam with Stock heads
I have a stock LT1 with a custom Crower cam. It is a 212/219 474/495 110ls. I ran a 12.32@12.08. I also have Hooker LT's. I love it. I have had no problems with it at all.
A hot cam is a good spray spray cam. A friend of mine made 336 with a stock motor and a hot cam. He had Hooker lt's as well.

Re: Best cam with Stock heads
what are you planning on doing in the future with your car? both of the cams you suggested are great cams for stock motors. the lt4 hotcam has had great results n/a and with spray. the 305 cam is also a good choice if you ever choose to go with aftermarket heads. a buddy of mine ran a 12.0 at 115 with heads and a 305 cam with shorty headers. both are excellent cams and you couldnt go wrong with either. ever thought of getting a custom ground camshaft? talk to some speedshops and see what they would recommend for your application

It really hauls for the amount of mods that he has done to it. If you plan on always keeping stock heads, I would really consider that cam. I am also extremely happy with my hotcam, and it was quite cheap. Got good gains with it too. Now I just need tuning, and longtubes...

Re: Best cam with Stock heads
As common as it is, I really like the HOT cam in stock motor...especially with boltons (headers, exhaust, intake, etc..). Really picks up alot of power (with tuning), drives near stock, has a *nice* little lope, and great torque. All of my friends around here that have done the HOT cam are trapping 110-112mph in the 1/4 with 6spd cars Autos are usually 108-109mph.
Cant beat the price for the whole kit either!

Re: Best cam with Stock heads
I love my custom ground Crower cam, but If I was going to buy a common ground cam, I would get the Crane 210/224 cam from Thunder Racing. Frank Benoit ran a 11.6 @ 114 with stock heads and bottom end n/a. That is very impressive.

Re: Best cam with Stock heads
Franks car really hauls butt. I don't think I can catch him with the HotCam that I have.
My car runs pretty good for what I have done to it.
